Dal started out as a University Graduate, desperate for a work placement he took a role in Central London for one of the largest PLC Recruitment Companies in the UK. Dal explains that this is where he was fortunate enough to be trained and mentored by two of the best Managers of his Career.
Fast forward to 2008, it’s the recession, but it was also the birth of Niyaa People in a small shared office space in Digbeth. Since then, Dal has taken the role as Managing Director and grown the company to over 30 people with the vision of doubling our size by 2020.
What’s the journey been like at Niyaa People?
“Where do I start! Opening day of trading: laptop (no mouse!) in a 120 sq. foot office. Fast forward 11 years… We have a Learning Development Programme, a robust infrastructure, clear vision and values. Working with a team of 30+ great people, who are lucky enough to have a mouse with their PC.”
Best thing about recruitment?
“Externally it’s seeing how we add value to people’s careers and with clients to help drive their businesses forward. Internally, it gives me immense pride that over 93% of the team are home-grown, I love seeing our guys develop and grow. All the guys drive their careers at the speed of their ambition and I ensure that happens.”
What do you like about your job?
“That I sit amongst the team. I always hot desk so I can sit with all the teams.”
What advice would you give to someone coming into recruitment?
“Don’t give up, fail fast and learn quickly.”

Seeing the company grow from the depths of a recession to a company who has a formidable value proposition within our marketplace that is recognised as a go-to Recruiter with our clients and being shortlisted for Awards in the local business community
